This is a fabulous Holland and Holland Royal Hammerless Ejector built in 1925, caliber .375 Flanged Magnum. It has all the features of a classic H&H magnum rifle: bolstered action; long top tang extending over the top of the comb; hidden third fastener; side clips; bushed firing pins; articulated front trigger; and ejectors.
It remains in excellent condition with about 90% original color case hardening on the action and 100% of a truly well-executed re-black on the barrels. The trigger guard, which extends to the grip cap, retains its original finish, with some blue wear appearing.

The reinforced action has hand detachable sidelocks. All is adorned with perfectly executed H&H Acanthus scroll in a typical “Royal” pattern with rose bouquets. The engraving is crisp and sharp as if done yesterday. All screws are properly aligned, with perfect slots. Inscription on the bottom of the action reads: Royal Hammerless Ejector.

The barrels are 26” chopper lump proofed “Cordite 56 – 300 Max”, which is the standard original proof for the .375 Flanged Magnum. They are topped with a quarter rib with H&H “spear” front treatment. There is a ramp front sight with the same “spear” style. The standing rear sight is for 50 to 200 yards, and the two folding rear sights are for 350 yards and 500 yards. The front sight is equipped with a flip-up night sight. The rifle is fit with a 1.25 x 4 Schmidt & Bender 30mm tube scope set in H&H quick detachable mounts. The inside of the bores appear almost new. Inscriptions on the barrels are: Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London. The top rib is inscribed: .375 Magnum.

The stock is dense, dark grained English walnut with some figure. There is a steel trap-door grip cap finishing the pistol grip, color hardened and scroll engraved. Dimensions are 1 5/8” x 2 5/8” x 14 7/8” over a red ¾” Silvers pad. It is cast “on” for a left-handed shooter. The splinter forend is attached by an Anson release. The stock and forend remain in excellent condition with minimal marks from the years. The checkering is crisp and sharp. Factory records indicate the stock originally had a cheekpiece. This rifle appears to have been little used.

The left-handed attributes of this rifle are: “reversed triggers” – the front trigger fires the left barrel; rolled trigger guard with the roll on the left side; and the left-handed cast to the stock. This is an extremely rare and unusual rifle.
The rifle is equipped with its original sling swivels. There is a vacant gold oval in the customary location along the bottom of the butt. Weight is 10.04 lbs. without scope, and 11.35 lbs with the 1.25 x 4 Schmidt & Bender scope attached. It resides in its Holland & Holland Oak and Leather trunk case.
The top lever and forend sport the number "2". Holland & Holland says this rifle was not paired with another. They further state that it was not uncommon for customers to ask for their non-paired guns to be numbered.
This rifle is a truly magnificent example that has survived quite well from 1925. It's extremely rare in LH configuration. Rare, indeed, in RH configuration. It has all the bells and whistles. A truly lovely rifle in a most sought-after chambering, made in the golden years after WWI and before the Great Depression.
