A rare opportunity for the serious photographer or collector. This marvelous lens is the pinnacle of versatility. Its range is from normal 50mm to 6x telephoto 300mm all in one super package.
Don’t confuse this with earlier versions of the 50-300mm Nikkor lens. This later model is a completely redesigned 15-element 50-300mm f/4.5 lens with ED glass introduced in 1977, which set new standards for variable lenses. Previous zoom lenses changed focal length by displacement of the forward lens groups, but in this lens, focal length change was moved back to the center lens groups, resulting shorter overall length. The lens is finished in matte black and has a gold ring (signifying ED glass) on the front sector. The tripod ring has a locking screw and loops for a carrying strap. The lens weighs 4 lbs. 13.6 oz. The aperture stops down to f/32.
This lens remains in excellent condition. The glass is flawless. The iris snaps like new. There is no fungus or other contamination in this lens. There are only very minor handling marks in the black exterior finish. The focus is butter smooth, as is the zoom. Focus remains sharp throughout the range of zoom from 300mm back to 50mm, as it should. This lens really has no issues. It comes with the aluminum Nikon front 95mm screw-on lens cover and the standard Nikon plastic rear lens cap.
I have taken some of my finest 35mm photographs using this lens.
